Kensington bootcamps teach you the correct technique for this effective thigh exercise. To start this exercise, raise the rear leg twelve to eighteen inches above the ground, using a chair or bench. Extend the front leg forward so that the knee is slightly behind the ankle. Keep the back straight and shoulders down. Lower the hips as much as you can without feeling pain.  Return to the starting position. Repeat the exercise with the other leg forward. Do the same number of repetitions for each leg.
