What is High Intensity Interval Training?

St Leonards outdoor fitness regimes are comprehensive workout regimes in terms of the kinds of exercise performed and benefits gained. They are meant to provide a full body workout and help in weight loss, body toning and contouring and enhancement of strength, resistance and immunity. Among the different kinds of workouts that are included in these programs, high intensity interval training (HIIT) is one that provides all of the above mentioned benefits in the most optimum manner.

Now, what exactly is high intensity interval training? To put it concisely, this is a kind of workout regime that consists primarily of high intensity workouts performed in alternation with low intensity workout. The workout pattern is completely exhausting. High intensity interval training is usually performed for twenty minutes excluding the warm up and cool down sessions.

Like all other workouts, St. Leonards outdoor fitness high intensity interval training has to begin with warm up. Once the muscles are nicely conditioned for workout, you have to exercise at full speed for around two to five minutes. The rate of heartbeat shoots up by nearly 75% and the metabolic rate of the body increases. After you reach the peak of your endurance, lower your speed and take it easy for the next ten minutes. Do not come to a complete halt because your muscles could seize up and result in severe cramps. For example, if you adopt running as your outdoor fitness St. Leonards regime, then sprint at full speed before coming down to jog until your rate of heartbeat lowers. For the next five minutes, perform the same exercise at a high speed and repeat the process. Wrap up with cool down. The special feature of high intensity interval training is that it can be adopted for any kind of workout, be it running, walking, dancing or a combination of different workouts.

Escape the Gym Blues – Join an Outdoor Group Personal Training Program

Outdoor group personal training in St. Leonards is a direct contradiction from gym workouts in every way. Although both the programs are meant for the same purpose, which is to increase your fitness levels, there is a sea of difference in the way fitness regimes are implemented and how people respond to each of the two regimes. One fact that cannot be grudged is that both the fitness regimes are effective in enhancing fitness. However, research has found that outdoor fitness has an edge over indoor gym workouts.

If you exercise in a gym regularly and want a respite from the stale air, sweaty stinking exercisers and the blaring music, try out St. Leonards outdoor group personal training workouts. For the mind and body to be revitalized, fresh air and natural light are essential. Working out in air conditioned gym environments, although comfortable, does not contribute much towards rejuvenation of the mind. So, step out of the gym and let the fresh breeze cool your skin as you sweat out the extra calories. You will feel instantly refreshed and rejuvenated.
